park lane sheffield

Studio Hagen Hall has achieved planning for the refurbishment and restoration of master metalworker David Mellor’s live-work annex house in Sheffield. The redesign of 1a Park Lane, which sold on The Modern House in 2022, focuses on restoring the mid century character of the two bedroom home and extending the plan to include a new master bedroom wing complete with bathroom and dressing room.

1a Park Lane was designed by David Mellor in collaboration with Patrick Guest in the 1960s, and features a classic mid century open plan arrangement and large glazed elevations. The house was upgraded by new owners in the 1990s, however the new additions sit incongruously with the historic house. Studio Hagen Hall has rectified this disconnect with a carefully designed scheme in sync with the mid century stylings of the original building. The new proposed master suite extension features floor to ceiling glazing, cream brickwork and a new stepped brick terrace which pay homage to the original design intent of the scheme by Guest and Mellor.
